Jeff Carel spent many years as leader in the Progressive Jewish Community in South Africa, serving as honourary treasurer of Temple Emanuel and the SAUPJ with distinction and diligence. As a member of Bet David his presence, warmth and charm have been apparent. Faced with serious illness through the past months, his participation in worship and activities were at chosen times. His greeting, his demeanour and his enjoyment of those moments teaches the reality of life and Jeff's enduring love for it.

Jeff was taken from his family, friends and community unexepectedly and leaves a void for all who knew his larger than life presence.

The funeral takes place on Monday 22 June, at 11:30, at West Park Cemetery. Our sincere condolences are extended to his beloved wife Esme, daughters Tayla, Elan and Tamma, mother Marcelle Katz, Len Katz and cousin, Glynnis Kanar and her family.
