Our National Mazkira (chair) for 2009 is Hayley Kornblum. Hayley was a participant in Shnat Netzer last year (shnat is a ten month learning experience in Israel), and returns to South Africa as a motivated head of our movement. Hayley will be studying politics, philosophy and economics at the University of Cape Town, and will be heading up the movement as Mazkira and Gizbarit (treasurer). She enjoys long walks on the beach and is mad about strawberries.
Rosh Cape Town for 2009 is Maia Zway, another participant of Shnat Netzer 2008. Maia comes from Pretoria and is moving to Cape Town to study psychology at the University of Cape Town and to volunteer as Rosh Cape Town. She adores kittens and intensely dislikes tomatoes. We look forward to benefiting from Maia's hard-working, driven presence.
Netzer Durban will be led again this year by Nigel Budlender. Nigel is a graduate of Shnat Netzer 2007 and was our Rosh Techni on Machaneh Bereishit 2008. He's a huge fan of sport and we love his accent! We can't wait for our Durban sniff go from strength to strength under his capable guidance.
This year Netzer has introduced a new position; the Gauteng Youth Worker. This is the first full-time, paid youth role in Netzer, and this year it will be held by Jackie Maris. Jackie is also a graduate of Shnat Netzer 2008, and will be taking on the role of Gauteng Youth Worker and Rosh Chinuch (education). She loves her pugs and enjoys musical theatre. We look forward to having a full-time worker for the movement and hope to see our Gauteng sniff blossom.
Nilmad v'na'aseh!
